Outline of project
The Glue Factory is an independent arts space situated in the Speirs Locks area of Glasgow. The building is part of a wider regeneration masterplan for Speirs Locks which aims to re-connect the north of Glasgow with the city centre, through cultural and creative activity. This area is also home to some of Scotland’s leading arts organisations – Scottish Opera, National Theatre of Scotland, Glasgow Sculpture Studios, The Whisky Bond and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Housed in the former Scottish Adhesives Company warehouse, The Glue Factory is a 20,000 sqft venue, exhibition and creative workspace. The Glue Factory CIC was incorporated in 2010 and since then has supported over 120 events and welcomed over 20,000 visitors. The ambition of The Glue Factory is to establish itself as a sustainable social enterprise that is not reliant on public funding. The organisation hires spaces for events and commercial activity to generate revenue to support its cultural programme, community engagement and provision of affordable workspace for artists and designers.
